Upcycled clothing is clothing made from clothing. You take a garment that already exists, usually pre-loved or vintage, and remake it into something new: re-cut, reprinted, patched, reconstructed. The original garment isn't recycled into fibre or landfilled. It has a second chance, usually a better one.
How we do it
Every one of one piece at andvamos starts as a garment somebody else was done with. A cricket jumper from someone's summer decades ago. A linen shirt with history and a hole. Four t-shirts that became one skirt.
The process depends on the piece, but it usually involves some mix of restoring the base garment, re-cutting it, screen printing or DTF printing our artwork, patching, embroidery, and finishing details like hand-stitched accents. Done in our Norwich studio, by hand, one garment at a time.
Because each piece starts from a different garment, none of them can be repeated. That's what 1/1 means on our product pages: not a small batch, not a limited run. One. The small imperfections that come with a pre-loved base aren't flaws either. They're proof the piece has lived before, and they're part of why no two reworks will ever match.
